ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
We, the people of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Parish, accept the responsibility and challenge for the mission of Jesus to the Catholic Church "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations." This is accomplished by creating a Christian community of Jesus which is alive and proclaims our worship, education, and service to others.

What about Children who are 18 Years of Age or Older? Children are considered members with their parents until they turn 18 years old. Once they are 18, it is their own responsibility to attend church and to register as a member independent of their parents.
"Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ." Colossians 3:23-24
This rewarding position teaches our youth in our faith. The commitment is 1 hour weekly after the 9:30 a.m. Mass during the RE season (August - Mid-May). To volunteer please call Linda Pintar 480-250-1320 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
These individuals assist during Mass with distribution of the body and blood of Christ.
Presentation of Gifts
Volunteer families present the bread and wine to the altar during the weekend Masses. This ministry is something that families can do together to be involved with the mass.
At each Mass, these individuals assist the priest in reading the Word of God. The readings include the 1 st and 2 nd readings, the Responsorial Psalm (if not sung) and the Prayers of the Faithful.
These volunteers arrive 20-30 minutes before mass and lead the rosary for those in attendance. The Rosary Prayer group meets every Monday at 6:00 p.m. in the Gila Chapel to pray the Rosary and the Devine Mercy Chaplet.
Altar (Acolytes) Servers
Servers assist Fr. Jose Maria A. Corvera at the altar during mass.
At each Mass, these individuals are responsible for directing parishioners to available seating, taking up the weekly collection and other special collections, distributing bulletins and other materials, and straightening the church after the Mass. The ushers keep things organized and secure the Sunday collection.
The parish offers a luncheon to all (registered and active) parishioners loved ones at their funeral.
When a member of our community dies, the Martha Ministry hosts a reception in honor of the lost loved one and grieving family after the mass or burial. Volunteers are needed for set up, serving and clean-up for Funeral Receptions. Receptions are held in the parish hall and usually take place Mondays-Fridays during the day. To join the Martha Ministry, email Dolores Cota at email@example.com.
Providing food for receptions: Volunteers are contacted via e-mail or by phone and asked to provide salads, side dishes and desserts. If you would like us to add you to the call list, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Music has a beautiful way of making God’s word remain in our hearts. It can help us to ponder it as Mary did (e.g., Luke 2:19). The choir group sings every Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. Mass.
Knights of Columbus
Men are invited to join the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic Fraternity that spends its efforts to assist the parish in many endeavors. Please email Chuck Goldsmith at email@example.com to find out how to join.
